Happy August, Academy Families!
THANK YOU for voting our three schools “Best Place for Music Lessons” in the Free Times Best of Columbia poll — for the TWELFTH year in a row!
We couldn’t do this without our incredible students, their families, our dedicated teachers, and hardworking staff. You are the heart of everything we do. Your votes, your support, and your belief in our mission mean the world to us. Here’s to another amazing year of music, memories, and growth—let’s keep rocking!
Calling All Small Business Owners! Are you a parent with a small business? We’d love for you to participate in our upcoming Trunk or Treat event! This is a great opportunity to showcase your products or services to our community in a fun and festive way.
We’ll be hosting themed trunks for different instruments, a supply drive for our friends at Final Victory Animal Rescue, and a competition for the best-decorated trunk!
This event will take place toward the end of October. Trunks should have a family-friendly theme, and spots will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. This will be a free event, and everyone is welcome to join! Please let us know if you’re interested, and we’ll be in touch with more details!
Another congratulations to all the students who performed at our 2025 Summer Recitals—you crushed it! We can’t wait to see your progress at our 2026 Winter Recitals, happening over two weekends: Friday, January 9th through Sunday, January 11th, and Friday, January 16th through Sunday, January 18th. We’re planning to hold the performances at the W.W. Hootie Johnson Performance Hall, but if there’s a conflict, we have the same dates on hold at the Koger Center.
Recital sign-ups will open on October 1st, 2025, and the schedule will be released in mid-November. Be sure to mark your calendars and stay tuned for more details soon: www.columbiaartsacademy.com/recitals

Musical Ladder System® Achievements!
The Columbia Arts Academy, Lexington School of Music, and Irmo Music Academy are the only Midlands music schools where students earn colorful wristbands, trophies, and certificates through the patented Musical Ladder System®, created by Academy Director Marty Fort and used nationwide. Some schools offer trophies and certificates, but none excite students like the Musical Ladder System® wristbands they proudly show off to friends.
