Update From Director Marty Fort!

Hi, everybody. It’s Marty Fort here from the Columbia Arts Academy, the Lexington School of Music, and the Irmo Music Academy, with another video update.

We’re so excited to see all of our students back and I’ve had a lot of people ask me, Marty, how are the schools doing? Is everything coming back? Is everything getting back to normal? How are you guys faring?

Last year was a very difficult year for us. When everything got shut down, we lost 100 students in 30 days and things were not looking great. We reopened in May, and thankfully, all of you guys came back and every month since then we’ve been able to rebuild. And I’m so excited to announce today, that as of this June, we’re at the highest enrollment ever. So, thank you, students, for coming back. Thank you for referring your friends. Welcome to all of our new students. Thank you to all of our teachers that are working so hard during this very difficult year to make Zoom work, make in person work, but everybody’s come back for in person lessons. And a big shout out and thank you to our office staff team, which I call the A Team. Couldn’t do without you, all the hard work you do, 7 days a week. So, thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

If you watch Shark Tank, the TV show on ABC, you’ll know Daymond Johns, and Daymond Johns is a judge on that show. And he recently did a video about the roaring 20’s. What that means is that he sees the same thing happen that happened 100 years ago. That he sees a resurgence of prosperity coming and the roaring 20’s because the pent up demand, people ready to get back out. They’re ready to be with people. They’re ready to do stuff. You’re seeing it on the highways. You’re seeing the stores, and we’re definitely seeing it in the schools. So, what does that mean to you? What it means is this, if you got a good lesson times, especially what we call prime time between 3:30, 7:30. Hold onto that spot. We’re already at our highest enrollment ever. Of course, we do have spots at 3 locations, 7 days a week, but it’s getting tight. So, we’re expecting a major influx of new students this August. Go ahead and get your time set up for this August, whatever you need. Contact the office at your schools. We’re there 7 days a week. You can text us, call us, Facebook message us, email us. We’d love for you to stop by in person and take a tour. But check it out guys, we’re going to have a huge August with the return of the roaring 20’s, and let’s make music.

In case you missed it, Saturday, August 7th our students and teachers performed at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland and you can rewatch it all! Click below to watch our students and teachers rocking it in Cleveland!

Also, a part of our reopening, our lobbies are now open. You do not have to wait in your car anymore. So, come on inside. Enjoy the indoors for all the great things our facilities have to offer, and of course, remember at Lexington we’ve got rocking chairs outside. Lots of great space there. So, enjoy our 3 campuses. Also, we’re resuming in person group makeups this month. So, you get to come back for your 1 hour group makeups. Get as many as you want.

We’re also so excited to launch our young children program for ages 2 and up. If you’ve got young kids, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 years old, ask about Music Fun Time. It’s a great group program for young children. We have a variety of lesson time options. So, contact the office today and let’s talk about music fun time for ages 2 and up for the little ones.

Music Fun Time is an international program. We do 15 minute private lessons for children ages 2 and up. So, contact the office if you have a young child or a young grandchild. We’d love to tell you more about Music Fun Time for your young one. It’s just a month to month program, but come on board. It’s awesome and it’s 1st come, 1st serve. So, go and get your spot now for the young ones for Music Fun Time.

We’re doing a new thing with Pets Incorporated that we’re going to be sponsoring once a month medical fees for 1 animal. So, they’re going to go out and post on their Facebook page which animal has needs, what their medical needs are, and we’re going to provide 300 dollars every single month. So, you literally can impact an animal’s life to help them get the medical attention they need and then maybe adopt them. So, be checking that out and watching our Facebook page, watching our emails. We’re happy again to partner again with Pets Inc at petsinc.org.

This month's sponsored pet is Smiley! She is currently being treated for heart worms, but she will soon be ready for a forever home! Smiley has the best snuggles, a sweet disposition, and does well with Academy kids! Be sure to stop by PETSInc to say hi to her or any other fuzzy friend who would love to come home with you!

Again, if you’re new to us, or maybe you’ve been around awhile, be sure to check out my book, The Ultimate Guide to Music Lessons. It’s a number 1 Amazon best seller. We’ve got free copies here at the school office. Happy to give you 1. Or if you just want to reach out to us. We’re happy to mail you a free copy. But check out that book. It’s got a lot of great tips for somebody that wants to learn more about the music lesson process and how to get the most out of music lessons.

The Musical Ladder System® is still blowing up. The Musical Ladder System® is an award system I made for music students. we’ve been using it since 2014. The reason we do it is to keep kids excited about music and to keep parents in the know about how their child is doing in lessons. So, contact your teacher. Contact the office. Let’s get you on the path of the musical ladder to get your child set up for success, help you as a parent to know what’s going on. It’s a great time and it’s a win win for the teacher, the parent, and the student. Check it out, MusicalLadderSystem.com.

I’m super excited about a new program I’m launching called the FamilySafetyPlan.org. This is similar to this pledge we did called SafeMusicSchools.org. FamilySafetyPlan.org is based on our security procedures we do for our music schools and that I teach to hundreds of music schools all over the US and Canada. Basically, we want to keep our students safe, our parents safe, and our staff safe.

So, what does that mean? What it means is we do 7 things at each of our locations, as well as the people that I work with to keep our students safe in lessons, from security cameras in every room, large observation windows on every door, 5 background checks on every teacher, always have an office staff present, a no touch policy for the teachers and students and a variety of other factors. So, check it out, FamilySafetyPlan.org and know that when you come to Columbia Arts Academy, Lexington School of Music, or Irmo Music Academy, we’re not only an official FamilySafetyPlan.org member. We are the founders of that program. We are leaders in keeping students safe in music lessons.

Okay, everybody, Marty Fort here signing off. We love seeing you at your lesson every week. We can't wait to see everybody fully back. We’re expecting a packed house, full rooms, full lobbies, and just a great time. So, here’s to rocking out with you at the Columbia Arts Academy, the Lexington School of Music, and the Irmo Music Academy.

Musical Ladder System® Achievements!

The Columbia Arts Academy, Lexington School of Music & Irmo Music Academy are the only music schools in the Midlands that gives their students the opportunity to earn special color wristband bracelets (kids and teens love them!), trophies AND certificates for passing musical tests with the Musical Ladder System®. It was actually created by academy Director Marty Fort. It has been awarded multiple patents and is being used by schools nationwide.

Do other schools offer trophies and certificates? A few. But none of them inspire their students with smiling faces by giving them full color, really cool "Musical Ladder System®" wristbands that they can show off to their friends.

Welcome New Students!

Please Welcome the our new students who registered in August!

Is Your Teacher Sold Out?

Many teachers have sold out. If you need a schedule change or would like to be added to a waiting list for a particular teacher, day or time, please contact any of our office staff team and they can add you to the waiting list.
